Dr. Eric Dirks demonstrated exceptional attentiveness and compassion when he recognized a patient in distress after a prolonged wait in the emergency department lobby. Taking the time to actively listen to the patient’s concerns, Dr. Dirks not only addressed the immediate symptoms but also reassured the patient and their family that their concerns were being heard.
