For Physicians

ApolloMD's Emergency Medicine Division began as a small local group, founded nearly thirty years ago at Wellstar Health System just outside of Atlanta, Georgia - a system that we still partner with today. Since becoming ApolloMD in 2001, the group has grown strategically. We know our niche. Our goal isn't to be the biggest group out there, but rather, to be the best. We're not the group that goes after every contract - we selectively partner with hospitals in desirable areas where our physicians want to work. Our specialization is in high volume facilities, and we built our business model to cater to their unique needs.

ApolloMD’s 750 physicians enjoy practicing in a top quality environment, surrounded by doctors with shared goals and values.

Work-Life Balance

The ApolloMD model empowers doctors by moving control and choice over their work schedule to the physician thereby allowing the work-life balance that he/she desires. With ApolloMD’s Partner Day One program, shift equity is enforced, and there is room in the group for the physician who wants to work nineteen shifts each month as well as a doctor who wants to work two. Our physicians determine when and how often they want to work, giving them greater control over their careers, lifestyle, and potential income, ultimately resulting in enhanced quality of life.

“The flexibility of the schedule gives me the time off I need to do what I love.”  - Eric Nix, MD

Top Income

ApolloMD utilizes a 100% performance-based practice compensation model for the physician. Group physicians share in ApolloMD receipts without regard to seniority or patients' ability to pay. Receipts from services at all facilities are distributed equitably throughout the group based on a percentage of individual physician charges.
The importance of a compensation structure based upon efficiency cannot be understated. The physicians are motivated to work hard and have a sense of pride and accomplishment in their performance, fostering a sense of group satisfaction and identity.

“The incentive based compensation makes sense, and it’s easy to understand how you get paid.  With ED volumes on the rise, I’m glad that I have a job that will pay me more for being busy.”  - Boykin Robinson, MD

Physician Ownership

Owned and operated by physicians, ApolloMD has our doctors' best interests at heart. Our private structure allows each physician practicing with ApolloMD the opportunity to  join the group on two separate fronts: Limited Partners and/or Owners. Participation is voluntary and the shares price is based on the intrinsic value of the group as a whole.

Quality of Practice

ApolloMD works to develop an environment that promotes mutual respect, participation, equitable compensation, growth and effective use of talents. All ApolloMD physicians are partners from Day-One. Rather than utilizing a tiered structure, in which newer members of the group are put at a relative financial disadvantage, we ensure that all ApolloMD physicians are equal partners.
At ApolloMD, you will be partnering with other top notch physicians to provide the best possible care to patients.  In the past year, we have recruited emergency physicians from top residency programs including:

University of North Carolina | Duke University | Emory University | Vanderbilt University | Hennepin County Medical Center | Orlando Regional Medical Center | Harvard University | Northwestern University | University of California Los Angeles | University of Chicago University of Pennsylvania | University of Cincinnati | Stanford University | Louisiana State University | Wayne State University Medical College of Georgia | Mount Sinai Medical Center – Miami | Yale University | Albert Einstein Medical Center | Oregon Health and Science University | Henry Ford Medical Center – Detroit | East Carolina University | SUNY – Upstate Medical University | Resurrection Emergency Medicine Residency

Resources of a National Group with the Autonomy of a Local Group

ApolloMD offers the best of both worlds for physicians:  locally run contracts with the resources of a national group.  Our medical directors are given the authority and resources necessary to effectively run their departments, and our corporate team is available to help with hospital relations, providing data and metrics, and offering outstanding training opportunities.

“Each ED is operated locally, allowing the physicians to determine how they want to operate.”  - Lynn Flowers, MD

Leadership and Growth

Training
ApolloMD truly invests in each physician that joins our group.  Partnering with top tier clinical research institutes, think tanks, and academic institutions, we ensure that we are always on the cutting edge of trends in Emergency Medicine and patient care.  Experience from our over 2.5 million annual patient encounters, along with learnings from affiliate partners, are passed along to our physicians.

Leadership Potential
We understand that clinical excellence alone will not prepare a new medical director for the tasks associated with the daily operations of an emergency department.  For this reason, we joined forces with one of our partners, The Baptist Health Care Leadership Institute, to found The ApolloMD Leadership Academy.  A two year training program, The Academy enables us to maintain a steady stream of qualified, knowledgeable medical directors to manage the day-to-day operations within each of the emergency departments on our growing roster.

“The ApolloMD Leadership Academy prepared me for leadership… Promotion happens from within our group.”  - Yogin Patel, MD

Technology

ApolloMD’s goal is to remain on the cutting edge not only clinically, but technologically as well.  We have implemented an electronic pen solution within several client facilities which allows for total integration between often time-consuming EMRs while allowing you to handwrite information while maximizing your interaction with patients.  Our Chief Medical Informatics Officer holds orientation seminars with physicians prior to beginning to practice at a new facility to ensure understanding and comfort with the hospital’s EMR system.

ApolloMD has also developed ApolloMD Schedule Optimization System, a dynamic scheduling program that takes into account patient volume influxes, hospital capacity and layout, and physician speeds and allows us to match demand with capacity and ensure appropriate staffing.  This system reduces the days when you feel overwhelmed on a shift, as well as those when a department is overstaffed and doctors are left waiting for patients to visit.
