Welcome New Emergency Medicine Fellows, Dr. Rico Beuford & Dr. Andrew Smith
We are thrilled to welcome two fellows to the ApolloMD Emergency Medicine Administrative Fellowship Program. Dr. Rico Beuford and Dr. Andrew Smith will embark on a two-year journey to enhance their emergency medicine administration, operations, and leadership skills.
Dr. Rico Beuford
Dr. Beuford, from St. Louis, Mo., recently graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City B.A./M.D. program and completed his residency at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Beuford has a passion for political advocacy and health equity, and he is looking forward to gaining a deeper understanding of the business and financial aspects of medicine during his fellowship. In addition to his medical pursuits, he enjoys Cuban salsa dancing, physical fitness, and travel to Latin America whenever possible.

Dr. Andrew Smith
Dr. Smith, hailing from Dacula, Ga., earned his undergraduate degree in kinesiology from Auburn University and his medical degree from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency training at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital and is keenly interested in nonprofit work, operations management, and entrepreneurship. Dr. Smith plans to leverage his clinical leadership experience to excel in medicine’s administrative, financial, and political realms. Outside of his professional endeavors, Dr. Smith is a talented musician who plays guitar, banjo, and mandolin. He is also an avid lacrosse player and competitive grappler in jiu-jitsu, and from 2012-2019, he participated in medical mission trips to Nicaragua, Uganda, and El Salvador.

Everyone at ApolloMD is excited to witness the growth and development Drs. Beauford and Smith will experience during their fellowship journey. Our comprehensive curriculum provides immersive experiences, hands-on training, and mentorship that equip fellows with the essential skills needed for a successful foundation as medical professionals.
They will work with ApolloMD’s corporate and clinical executives while pursuing concurrent enrollment in an executive master’s program in business administration. This fellowship serves as a crucial steppingstone for individuals aspiring to lead emergency departments, hospitals, and health systems with excellence and innovation.
