The ACEP26 Guide to Chicago: Things to Do, See and Eat During Your Trip

Heading to ACEP26? Chicago has plenty to explore once the conference days wraps up. Whether you have a few hours between sessions or an evening to explore, we asked our Chicago-based team members to share some of their favorite ways to experience the city.

See the City

  • Chicago Architecture Cruise: One of the best ways to see Chicago’s famous skyline. Cruise along the river while learning about the city’s iconic architecture.
  • Chicago Riverwalk: Take a walk along the river, grab a drink or bite to eat, and enjoy some of the best people watching in the city.
  • Lake Michigan: Walk, run or bike along the lakefront for skyline views and a little fresh air.
  • Wrigley Field: Baseball fan? Take a tour of the historic home of the Chicago Cubs.

Explore Near McCormick Place

You don’t have to travel far from the conference to experience some of Chicago’s best attractions.

  • Museum Campus: Visit the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium or Adler Planetarium, all located along the lakefront just north of McCormick Place.
  • Chinatown: Explore local restaurants, bakeries and shops in one of Chicago’s most distinctive neighborhoods.
  • Millennium Park: Visit Cloud Gate, better known as “The Bean,” for a classic Chicago photo.

Eat Like a Chicagoan

Chicago is a food city, and ACEP26 is a good excuse to try something new.

  • Deep-dish pizza: Try a Chicago classic at Pequod’s Pizza, a local favorite.
  • Chicago-style hot dog: Pick one up from a local stand. A traditional Chicago dog comes with pickles, relish, sport peppers, onions, tomatoes and mustard. No ketchup!
  • Fulton Market: Head here for a wide selection of restaurants and bars in a walkable neighborhood.
